Trunk or Treat- Wrightsville Beach Baptist Church

Last night Lee, Ryan and I went to the Trunk or Treat at Wrightsville Beach Baptist Church. We know Ryan doesn't eat candy and we don't really either, but it was a chance to get him in his dog costume and walk him around. We met our friends JT and Casey Cape there with their kiddos Savannah and Kennedy. We had a fun time! Too bad Ryan wasn't feeling too good. He was running a fever when we got home :( Hopefully it isn't anything too bad. He is getting his top 2 teeth, so who knows!

Walking by Halloween

A while back I predicted that our little guy would be walking by Halloween and sure enough, it's happened.  All in the last few days.  I can't believe it!  He's not completely walking everywhere yet, but he's trying.  This weekend when Jenna and Jillian were here and they were walking everywhere I think he realized that he wanted to do that too.  He'll take between 5-10 steps at a time by himself and can come to a standing position by himself without having to pull up on something.  It's crazy!!  He's not a little baby anymore.   Mama is a tiny bit sad about that, but I'll live :)  Ryan is changing by the day right now and it's so fun to watch it happen.  Soon, we'll be celebrating his 1st birthday!!  Oh boy!!

Pushing Jenna (videos)

Here's the 2 part video version of Ryan pushing Jenna in the den.  I couldn't believe that he could actually push her on the red car.  There were a couple of stops along the way, but they made it!!

Having Fun

When Jenna and Jillian were here this weekend the kiddos played a lot, but they also enjoyed looking at the books.  Here are some pics of Jennifer reading to the girls and Lee reading to Eli.

After breakfast, still in their PJs!!

Hmmm....wonder what they are talking about???

Pushing Jenna

This weekend Jennifer, Jillian and Jenna came to visit and spent the night with us on Friday night. The kiddos had fun playing together, all toddling around! Ryan was keeping up with the girls who are walking better than he is. Here, Ryan is pushing Jenna across the room all the day to our door. I guess when they stopped they had some sort of baby conversation. It was too cute!!

Walking!!!

Today Ryan has been taking a lot of steps and has been taking a few steps at a time for about a week now.  Tonight we captured his longest stretch of walking yet....and yes, Mama is excited as you'll be able to tell by the video!!  I sound like a crazy person!!

Our Friday afternoon

Today Ryan went on a walk with Mama in the neighborhood, something that we've been doing a lot lately in the afternoons. It's getting cooler outside so we've had to start bundling up. We're not used to the coats, hoods, and blankets yet. Sometimes we don't need all the gear, but the time is coming sooner than we realize!!

Our blue eyed boy.....

I was trying to get Ryan to sit by the pumpkin so I could take a picture....yeah, that doesn't really work with a squirming little crawler.  He was more interested in turning around and plucking flower and leaves off the flower behind the pumpkin.  Oh well, Mama tried.

10 Months

Ryan turned 10 months old this past Sunday.  Wow.  I can't believe he's almost a year.  Crazy!!  We went today to his 9 month well check today (yes, one month past due...we were out of town and had to reschedule).  He is 21.2 lbs (60%), 29 inches long (75%), and his head is 45cm (50%).  So over all he's right in the middle!
Things Ryan is doing now:
  • crawling ALL over the place, and super fast!!
  • pulls up on everything he can so he can stand up
  • is walking behind a push toy all the way across our house
  • is cruising along furniture
  • has taken 2 steps by himself (tonight!!)
  • is nursing twice a day and getting a bottle twice a day
  • is eating lots of solids, loves to eat pick-up food
  • some favorite pick-up foods are:  cut up peaches, pears, bananas, bread, puffs, cooked green beans and carrots
  • has transitioned to 2 naps a day (with a lot of help and determination from Mama), 9am and 1pm
  • starting to give kisses
  • gets leery sometimes of strangers and wants Mama or Daddy to hold him

Sugar

Lee's been working on getting Ryan to give kisses lately and he's starting to get the gist. It's more of an open mouth, drool, slobbery kiss... but hey, I'll take it! It's sweetness!! Here's a quick video of him trying to give me some sugar! Just melts my heart!!

Cruising and First Steps

Tonight Lee and I were trying to get Ryan to cruise down the couch by enticing him with one of his toys. While we were getting him to cruise for the video camera he let go of the couch and took his first couple of steps by himself!! We couldn't believe that we got it on camera! How crazy is that??? Here's our little guy cruising and taking his first couple of steps!

Ryan and Jake

Lee's childhood friend Adam and his son Jacob came by to visit and meet Ryan today. The boys played with Ryan's toys and both played with his red car and had fun!  It was great to get to see them!

Picking our 1st Pumpkin

Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church has a Pumpkin Patch every year and has as long as I can remember.  We refer to this church as "the pumpkin church."  We've never gotten a pumpkin before as a family and I've never bought one here but have always wanted to.  It was fun to watch Ryan look at all the pumpkins and walk around to find the perfect pumpkin to take home with us!  We even got him a little baby pumpkin!

Looking at the little bitty pumpkins!

They have an assortment of funky pumpkins....some have bumps, some are scaly, some are green or white, etc.

Here is our first family pumpkin!!!  Lee discovered this one, ready for us to take home!

Here is Ryan's little itty bitty pumpkin, just for him!!!
