Busy Days....

Our life with the boys has been busy lately.  Ryan has kept us on our toes with his talking and interacting.  He's so funny and makes us laugh and the little conversations we have daily amaze me.  He's also very busy and is IN. TO. EVERYTHING. CONSTANTLY.  Really, he is such a curious little guy that it's fun to watch him learn but sometimes his curosity gets the better of him.  He's one that needs lots of supervision (most of the time anyway).  If I leave the room I could come back to an angel playing so well by himself or find him skyping D&L in China.  He's just a busy boy.  We're constantly working on "Listening and Obeying Mama." He's been sick a lot this year since starting preschool and has really been sick constantly since before Christmas.  We've had to be locked in the house quite a bit so we all go stir crazy.  He really needs to get out and play and run and just let loose everyday.  He's finally on the way to recovery and hopfully he'll stay well for a while.

Seth has been quite the topic lately.  He's growing and changing daily.  He's really starting to talk and laugh.  It's so fun to see the changes that happen so quickly at this age.  He's checking out the world all the time.  If he hears voices or sound, he's craning his neck to see where it's coming from.  His colic is GONE (did you hear me cheer!!) so he's a happy, happy, happy boy these days.  Mama is loving his disposition.  He handles Ryan's tough love well and doesn't complain about Ryan loving on him too much.  The other day I did get the giggles at Ryan and Seth.  Ryan leaned down to hug Seth while Seth was under his playgym and Seth grabbed Ryan's hair and wouldn't let go.  It was just a reflex but it was sooooo funny.  Ryan just squealed with surprise that Seth 1.) had his hair and 2.) wouldn't let go.  It was funny.  Seth continues to have his eating challenges.  He's nursing still-- but not really all that great.  I'm pumping a lot to keep my breastmilk supply up.  Our freezer is FULL of milk for him.  I wish I knew how many ounces we have and how many hours I have pumped to get what we have.  He's now down to the 7th percentile for weight for his age so the doctor is monitoring him.  Last weight check last week he weighed 12.4 lbs.  If he gets below 3% we have other issues we'll have to be concerned about.  It's too close for me but the doctor seems to think that he's just a small kid.  It's not like he was at the 50th percentile and dropped to the 7th.  He's been on the low end since he was born.  He's just dipping lower than we'd like.  His main issue is that he's not all that interested in eating at times.  He doesn't want to nurse or take a bottle.  The doctor wants me to try and nurse at every feeding and then offer him a bottle with a tablespoon of rice cereal in the bottle for extra calories.  We'll be starting solids soon enough and feeding him rice cereal in addition to putting it in his bottle.  He needs all the extra calories he can get so he can get his weight up.  This has been very stressful for us and me specifically since I'm the one who feeds him.  Plus, I am trying to keep my breastmilk supply and if he keeps nursing in a random way, it doesn't help that.  Breastmilk is such a Supply and Demand thing.

Daddy is still in school and has decided to just take one class per semester until he graduates.  These classes are the hard ones at the end of his schooling and taking 2 per semester doesn't make sense for him or our family.  We need to have some sort of normal family life and with him studying constantly it makes it hard.  Lee wants to be able to enjoy these fun times with the kids and if he's constantly sequestered studying, he misses things.  I can't tell you how many times Lee has missed out on stuff--whether with the kids, family things, or our friends--because of school.  He scarifices a lot without complaint.

So, that the's update from our house.  It's a busy place these days and we couldn't have made it this far without our families.  They have gone way above and beyond to help us and just serve our family during this time of transition to a family of 4.  We love them so much and appreciate their willingness to help us.
