Seth's Trip to the Hospital

This past couple of weeks has been a bit crazy at the Craft house.  It started with Seth getting the nasty snotty nose cold about 2 weeks ago.  It eventually turned into an ear infection which caused him to take Amoxicillin.  About 3-4 days into the antibiotic we started noticing his diapers were getting a bit rough and by Monday he had had 4 diarrhea diapers and 5 on Tuesday.  We were in close contact with the docs thinking it was a drug reaction to the Amoxicillin.  They encouraged us to keep giving it to him when we chatted early on Tuesday but as the day progressed, he got worse.  He refused to eat or drink anything and was quickly becoming dehydrated.  We attempted the ER Tuesday night after he threw up all over Lee and once we there about 2 hrs and realized there were still 10 people in front of us, plus we got Seth to drink about 3 oz of water while we waited, we decided to throw in the towel and come home.  I would take him ASAP to the doc in the morning after a good night's sleep.  After seeing his doc we decided to be in close contact and reassess that afternoon and would most likely admit him to the hospital if he hadn't drank anything or had wet diapers.  He did neither so we had to admit him later that evening.  Meanwhile, I picked up Ryan from school with a 101.3 temp.  He wanted to go straight to bed with no lunch.  I happily obliged and made a doc appointment--knowing he had complained of his ear hurting the day before I was about 100% confident he had a reoccurring ear infection on an ear that was infected about 1 month ago.  So, we trekked it back to the docs office that afternoon with Ryan.  Yep, another ear infection with a pitiful 3 year old.  Fever does not do him well.  We got confirmation that Seth needed to be admitted while we were at the docs too so we came home and made plans.  Meanwhile Nana and GG were on there way to help man the ship while I stayed at the hospital with Seth and Lee worked.  Seth came home Thursday afternoon and is doing great.  He got fluids and had some tests run.  We are being referred to an endocrinologist to look further into his small stature.  He doesn't seem to be growing at the rate we'd like to see so we need to have things checked out.  Hopefully it's nothing and he's just a small kiddo.  Ryan is still struggling to get well.  He seems to be feeling better from the ear infection but has either a stomach bug or isn't tolerating his antibiotic.  Good gracious....we've gotta get these boys well.  Seth is good to go, we're still a work in progress with Ryan.  We're going to take him to the doc tomorrow morning to figure this stomach thing.
Here are a couple of pics of Seth in the hospital with his IV.  He was a trooper and did great while we were there but we were definitely ready to come home when the time came.  There's nothing quite like home....
